Authentic Learning

Our Middle School program embodies modern learning principles to promote high levels of collaboration, student agency, and ownership of learning experiences. Teachers offer multiple opportunities for students to demonstrate proficiency in a wide variety of ways.

Our practices aim to promote sustainable and independent learning, critical thinking, decision making, and ethical discussions that prepare students to be responsible for their learning journey.

We support every student's endeavor to learn, believing in their creative process and protagonism.

What Makes Us Unique

Advisory

Students learn best when their social and emotional wellbeing is cared for at school, in a safe space to explore Self Management, Self Awareness, Responsible Decision Making, Relationship Skills, and Social Awareness. The program is overseen by the Middle School Counselor and it envolves every student in Middle School.

Classroom Without Walls

Our CWW program provides students a valuable opportunity to experience in person what they have only learned during classes. The purpose is to increase and extend their knowledge while traveling to destinations in south Brazil. It happens yearly and has no extra cost, as it is included in tuition.

Annual House Cup

During the entire schoolyear, students engage in a healthy competition between houses. Students engage in competitive activities in different areas, such as academics, athletics and arts, fostering a sense of community, leadership and sportsmanship.

Counseling & Student Behaviour

Counseling in Middle School focuses on empowering students to fully develop their social and emotional skills. We understand that with guidance and support, every mistake is a learning opportunity. Clear community expectations and meaningful consequences are essential to develop the behavior foundations needed for your child’s success in learning and life.

ISC Academy

Our after-school activities program focuses on educational, physical, social, and mental development, offering a wide range of options for our students. For Middle School grades, there are more than 20 options that include sports, student-led clubs, and other activities such as French, Drama, and 3D Design Printing.

Visible Learning

Middle School learning focuses on collaboration, avoiding student isolation. Our environment and classrooms facilitate connections between classes and the exhibition of student work, making learning visible for all, at all times.

Committed to Student Success

We offer a robust structure to ensure student success in Middle School. Our learning support team includes a Coordinator, an English Teacher, a Learning Support Teacher, and the MS Counselor. This structure allows us to oversee all needs our students may demonstrate during their learning journey.

Service Learning

Middle School students engage constantly in service learning. Whether through activities embedded in the academic subjects or through larger projects such as the annual Panetone Sales for Escola Nilza Tartuce, Dia do Zelador, and others.

Meet the Middle School Principal

Dan Weintraub is an education leader with over 16 years of experience in the United States, Malawi, and now Brazil. He has led the Middle School since 2021 and promotes the importance of educating the whole child, including Social and Emotional Learning and Comprehensive Health Education.
