WHY DOES ISC HAVE AN ADVANCEMENT PROGRAM?

Our school is growing and evolving and we need to design and build new facilities as well as enhance learning opportunities for all our students in areas such as academics, design and technology, performing and fine arts and by developing and retaining the best teachers possible.

The elementary classrooms are a priority and our student body would benefit from a larger restaurant. With increased and expanded facilities, we can develop our academic and extra-curricular programs using dedicated spaces.

We can achieve both our short- & long-term strategic goals faster and support the financial viability of our school.

WHY GIVE?

Your gift supports annual enhancement projects and helps fund major improvements and expansions as part of the Master Plan.

What inspires people to give is highly individual and based on personal circumstances and motivation, but the results are mutual: Gifts to our Advancement Program enhance the learning and lives of our students; promote excellence in teaching; support campus improvements and help others in need.

Whatever it is that motivates you to MAKE A GIFT to our Advancement Program – pride in your child’s accomplishments, commitment to international education, the memory of a teacher at ISC, supporting people in need or simply the joy of giving to others – we truly appreciate everyone’s generosity and value your personal engagement in our community.

WHY NOT JUST RAISE TUITION?

Tuition is intended to pay for, and only covers, the teaching and learning costs. Voluntary gifts allow the school to strengthen and enhance its programs, faculty and learning environments at levels well beyond those that can be paid through tuition alone.

ISC is a non-profit educational institute. Each year the school spends around 80% of tuition fees paying for the best teachers hired from overseas or locally and 20% on operational costs.

DOESN'T THE ASSOCIATION CONTRIBUTION COVER MAJOR SCHOOL IMPROVEMENTS?

No it doesn’t. The Association Contribution generates close to R$1 million per year, at current enrollment levels, and is directed towards covering maintenance, technology advancements and some smaller facility improvements.

Our plans for facility enhancements and campus expansion over the next 5-10 years are projected to cost in excess of R$30 million. Considering it takes 10 years to generate just R$10 million from the Association Contributions, we simply can’t wait to generate money from this amount alone. We must therefore seek to raise substantial additional funds each year for priority areas of enhancement, via the Advancement Program.

HOW DOES THE PTO & ADVANCEMENT FUNDRAISING WORK TOGETHER?

Our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) fully support the goals of the ISC Annual Fund, and each year raise money to support one or two specific projects within the Annual Fund, ensuring we all work towards the common goal of advancing our school, in all the fundraising we do.

DOES ADVANCEMENT SUPPORT SERVICE LEARNING PROJECTS?

Yes. We will give 10% of monies* raised through the ISC Annual Fund each year, to the Community Service projects our students and teachers are involved with, directly supporting the people and programs within local charitable projects. That means, a part of your annual gift also goes to help people in need.

*up to a maximum of R$100.000,00
HOW MUCH SHOULD I GIVE?

Giving is completely voluntary.

We have established a number of GIVING LEVELS, allowing each person to choose what level best suits them. Donors who make a gift of R$1,959 or more, receive exclusive offers for some ISC events throughout the year and an invitation to a special donor recognition event as part of our 1959 CLUB.

WILL MY GIFT BE RECOGNIZED?

Yes, all gifts are recognized. Names of donors are listed under their Giving Level category in our annual ISC REPORT. The list does NOT include the amount donated.

When making your gift, please be sure to let us know under which name(s) you would like your gift to be recognized. Gifts may also remain anonymous in our report, by request.

Other areas where gifts may be recognized are: Pages of our Website, WINDOW Magazine, Financial Audit Report and other ISC communications.

WHAT ABOUT GOVERNANCE?

Governance and transparency are very important to us. Please make sure to read our GIFT ACCEPTANCE POLICY and BILL OF DONOR RIGHTS.

CAN I GIVE SOMETHING OTHER THAN MONEY AS A GIFT?

Yes, there are a variety of ways to make a gift. Donors may give stocks or bonds, land may be donated, in-kind or quid-pro-quo gifts may be offered, or ISC named in a Will.

Please contact the Advancement Office on +55 41 3525-7400 oradvancement@iscbrazil.com to discuss these options further.

CAN I DESIGNATE THE PROJECT OR CATEGORY IN WHICH I WANT MY GIFT TO BE PLACED?

Gifts to the ISC Annual Fund are unrestricted gifts, meaning they go toward the priority areas established by the Community and School Leadership Team, and endorsed each year by the Board.

Gifts to the ISC Major Gift Fund may be designated to a specific project or program in discussion with the Advancement Office and as approved by the Board.

Our Pledge Form allows donors to let us know what area(s) they are most interested in supporting, ensuring we establish projects each year in categories that reflect our community’s interest.

WILL ALL THE MONEY DONATED TO THE ISC ANNUAL FUND BE SPENT ANNUALLY?

Monies collected up to April 30th will be spent throughout that same year or within the first few months of the next school year.

It is important to give early in the year, to ensure we have the funds and the time to implement the enhancements.

IS MY GIFT TAX DEDUCTIBLE?

Individual gifts to the ISC Annual Fund and ISC Major Gift Fund are not tax deductible.

We have opportunities for individuals, companies or corporations to support specific ISC Sports projects through the Lei de Incentivo ao Esporte.

Please contact the Advancement Office on advancement@iscbrazil.com or +55 (41) 3525-7400 for more information.

DOES A DONATION INCREASE MY CHILD'S CHANCES OF ADMISSION TO ISC?

No. A financial contribution to ISC is a sign of support for the students and the school, but it does not influence decisions on Admissions. All students and families will receive the same high level of service from the school regardless of whether or not they make a gift to ISC.
